About The Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County
In 1956, the Boys &Girls Club of West Cook County was founded as the Boys Club of Bellwood. Like others across the country, our Club started by local residents and businesses who wanted to establish an organization that filled emotional, social and physical needs of the boys of the community. In 1992, we officially welcomed girls as members and opened a new gymnasium. To acknowledge an expansion of services, we changed our named to the Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County in 2001. Approximately 3,400 school-aged youth live within 2.4 square miles of the Club. Many need a safe and positive after-school destination. Without the Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County, many children and teenagers would not have a constructive, low cost after-school option.
